WHEELMIGO
Room for a little chance.
WheelMigo is a free browser tool for picking names, deciding small things, and taking turns. It starts with a list and keeps the controls close to the wheel.
It is designed for local use: no account, no upload of your entries, and no paid step to reveal a result. Names and results stay in your browser on this device.
WheelMigo is built and operated by Clooms, an independent digital-product company based in Boulder, Colorado, USA, whose work spans a portfolio of focused web utilities. You can reach us at support@wheelmigo.com.
What you can do here
WheelMigo has four kinds of tool. The wheels (name picker, classroom picker, team picker, number wheel and yes or no wheel) pick one entry or a batch from your list. The group and team generators split a list into evenly sized groups. Templates give you ready-made lists to copy. The blog explains how the tools work and tests them.
How a pick is made
When you press spin, the result is chosen first and the animation then shows it. The choice uses your browser’s crypto.getRandomValues, which gives a 32-bit random number, and a step called rejection sampling that discards the few values that would make some entries slightly more likely than others. Nothing about timing, mouse speed or frame rate affects the outcome. Each enabled entry counts as one chance, so a list of eight gives each entry a 1 in 8 chance; a duplicate name is another entry with another chance, because two people can share a name.
We test it, and say what the tests do not show
We have run the real selection code at scale and published the numbers. On a two-entry yes or no wheel, 10,000,000 spins gave Yes 50.007% and No 49.993%, and after five identical answers in a row the next answer was the same 49.96% of the time. We also ran a seven-million-draw test on a name list. These tests show that the method is not biased toward any entry. They do not turn WheelMigo into a certified or audited draw: it runs in your browser, on your device, and should not be used where a legally certified random draw is required.
Privacy by design
Names, lists and results stay in your browser. They are stored on your device and are never sent to our servers. To keep the tools free, the site shows Google AdSense ads and uses Google Analytics to count aggregate visits; advertising and analytics storage stay off until you accept the consent banner, and neither can see what you type. The privacy page has the details.
